Why Iā€™m Running

There is no shortage of important issues that need addressing by our representatives in Salem.

  • As the former Chair of Transition Projects, I believe we must make the investments necessary to make sure all of our neighbors have a safe, affordable place to call home.

  • As a breast cancer survivor, I believe access to health care is critical and know that too often a lack of affordable options is what actually restricts meaningful access to quality care.

  • As a mother of two and a former Portland Community College instructor, I believe a strong public school system is the key to a strong economy and the future of our community.

  • As a former Deputy District Attorney, I believe we need to focus on practical ways to address the underlying issues driving high incarceration rates such as untreated mental health problems, drug and alcohol addiction, institutionalized oppression, and homelessness.

  • As the former Chair of the Oregon Psychiatric Security Review Board, I know we need to increase access to treatment, counseling, and therapy that gets people the care they need.

  • As a fierce protector of my daughter, I will fight for reproductive justice for all women. This includes abortion access, reproductive choice, health and equity.

  • As a human being on this planet, I am fiercely dedicated to preserving our ability to pass on the legacy of environmental resources, clean drinking water and safe air to our children.

  • As the Senator representing Senate District 14, I have seen the value of working together, and I will continue to work with people from all walks of life to ensure we are building an Oregon that works for people in all four corners of our great state.
